Big Changes for Riverview
In March, many apartment buildings on Riverview Drive were sold to a new owner. We learned that these buildings will be “rehabbed,” requiring both our RIC office and many families to find new homes. Many of you have asked “how can we help?” See below for ways to support the RIC community during this difficult time.
WAYS TO HELP HERE:
Our staff are working tirelessly to help our neighbors navigate rapidly changing circumstances. They are searching for new apartments, connecting neighbors with legal help, and providing a listening ear, advice, and encouragement through a difficult situation. Your donation helps us continue our work of support and advocacy.
Some of our neighbors have lived in their apartments on Riverview Drive for a few months, and others many years. But new neighbor or old, finding affordable housing in Columbus right now is HARD! Your donation will go directly towards helping neighbors with their security deposit for their new apartment.
We need volunteers! We anticipate that we all may need the following:
Collect/donate moving supplies
Help the RIC pack & move
Help neighbors make rental inquiry calls or fill out paperwork like change of address forms and rental applications
Assist neighbors with moving larger items/furniture to their new homes
… other needs as they arise!
