Hamida Ouali

Community Care Coordinator

Hamida grew up in Kabylia, Bejaia, Algeria. After High school graduation, she studied at the higher school teacher training in Algers and then taught history and geography for 15 years in different Algerian High schools.

Hamida visited many countries in Europe and Africa before moving to the United States through the diversity visa lottery program in 2019 with her husband and two daughters.  Soon after moving to Riverview Place, Hamida worked at the Marriott Hotel until the pandemic hit and continues to tutor American students in French. In 2020 Hamida wanted to give back and started volunteering at the RIC.

Hamida speaks four languages: Berber, French, Arabic and English. She Is currently studying English at Columbus State Community College.

Her desire to serve people is her motivation and she is able to see the wonderful potential in working with people from different cultures. Hamida has experienced first-hand the worries, challenges and joys in moving to a new country and is ready to offer her knowledge. Hamida’s openness to different cultures represents her strength to be useful for the new American at the RIC.
